FWP conducting paddlefish surveys >

HELENA – As the 2026 paddlefish season concludes, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is conducting telephone and email surveys for both harvest and catch-and-release paddlefish tags.  

FWP staff will contact a random sample of Yellowstone River yellow-tag holders and upper Missouri River white-harvest-tag holders. All lower Missouri River green-tag holders and Fort Peck Dredge Cuts blue-tag holders will also be surveyed by phone.

New this year, a random sample of upper Missouri River snag-and-release only tag holders and Yellowstone River yellow-tag holders will receive an online survey via email. 

Surveys will ask anglers about paddlefish catch, effort, satisfaction and any additional comments about this season. Surveys will take only a couple of minutes to complete. FWP needs to hear from all selected tag holders, even those who did not participate in the 2026 paddlefish season.

Phone surveys will come from a Helena FWP phone number. Email surveys will come from FWP’s montanafwp@announcements.mt.gov email address. Three attempts will be made to contact all selected paddlefish tag holders.
