Powder Valley Nature Center welcomes families to Trek or Treat Critter Crawl Oct. 17

Body

KIRKWOOD, Mo. —Scary, not scary.  The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites you to decide which of Missouri’s wildlife species is which and collect some free candy along the way.

MDC’s Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center celebrates Halloween by hosting the Trek or Treat Critter Crawl Saturday, Oct. 17 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.  This event is free and open to all ages.

Visitors are welcome to put on their favorite Halloween costumes and bring a candy buckets for an afternoon of family-friendly fun.  Participants will stroll down the Tanglevine Trail and visit multiple species stations.  They’ll learn all about Missouri’s most misunderstood wildlife species.

Bats, owls, snakes, spiders . . . are they really so spooky as they might seem?  Visitors will be equipped with the facts so they can decide for themselves.  Of course, there will be some candy to take home, too.

Tanglevine Trail is a mostly flat, paved trail that runs approximately 1/3 of a mile and is both stroller and wheelchair friendly. The trail should take around 30 minutes to complete.

To register for Trek or Treat Critter Crawl, go to http://short.mdc.mo.gov/oY8.  Registration is recommended, but walk-ins will be welcome as well.

Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center is located at 11715 Cragwold Road in Kirkwood, near the intersection of I-270 and I-44.
